Nature Masterminds.
Nature Masterminds, launched by the Caroline Kramer Faust Foundation in 2018, is a unique biomimicry platform transforming K-8 students into creative problem-solvers inspired by nature. Its mission is to help students recognize nature as their most innovative teacher and collaborator — delivering ready-to-implement programs designed for immediate use by educators and institutions worldwide.
The Challenge
A static site that couldn't deliver the learning experience.
Nature Masterminds had a text-heavy website that linked out to an external learning management system for content delivery. They approached Innovative Owl to build a modern, integrated digital platform — one that could not only showcase their mission, but also function as a subscription-based LMS with secure user access to educational modules.
Their previous site lacked the flexibility needed to provide subscription management, deliver camp programs, support instructor training, and integrate content into existing curricula.
Wise Idea
A headless platform with a custom subscription LMS baked in.
Innovative Owl Technology engineered a complete platform overhaul using Storyblok as the headless CMS foundation. We developed a modern, visually engaging front-end design that dramatically improved the user experience while establishing a clear content hierarchy — including a sophisticated filtering system that lets users browse by series, modules, cost, and technology requirements.
A key component was the custom-built authentication system that manages user profiles, subscription access, and content permissions. The secure login portal provides personalized dashboards showing active subscriptions and learning progress. For administrators, we built a powerful backend that lets staff independently manage every aspect of the platform, from creating new educational modules to processing subscription renewals, without developer intervention.
We integrated blog functionality through a "What's New" section that empowers the organization to share press releases, educational content, and updates. The entire platform was built with scalability in mind, ready for future expansion of educational offerings.
